January- Well into my job as a high school librarian and cheerleading coach, we were beginning to think about packing up and leaving Turkey. We welcomed home a friend from deployment and I started to enjoy being pregnant without throwing up!

April- I finished up my job at the school and started packing up our house. My parents came to help us and we took them to Cappadocia after the movers came. It was a fun way to celebrate my dad's retirement.
May- I (sadly) said goodbye to our friends in Turkey and headed to Texas just before I was considered too far along for international travel. We were very close to our friends there, so it was a difficult goodbye. Luckily Texas helped to dry my tears with mexican food, Target, and Chick fil A. Our Texas friends and family threw us a wonderful shower at my favorite restaurant.
June- Jordan was still in South Carolina (having JUST arrived there from Turkey) and was due to sign on our house when, surprise!, my water broke 2 weeks early. Luckily he made it in time and we welcomed little Deacon into our family! Somewhere in the haze of sleeplessness I turned 28.
July- J left early and, with the help of his mom, accepted all of our household goods and started to get our new home ready. My Dad and I followed shortly after, making the long drive from Texas to South Carolina with a newborn. Luckily Deacon was a traveling champ and we made it all in one piece.
August- I returned to Texas after the passing of my Grandmother, who was just shy of 93. What a blessing that she was able to hold Deacon and that I had some great visits with her before she passed. She was an incredible lady and I know I will see her in heaven.
September- Back in South Carolina we focused on settling in and meeting new friends. We officially unpacked all the boxes and started to explore Charleston. We took a road trip with D down to Florida for the a baby shower for our friends from Turkey.
October- Headed to Texas AGAIN (I love how easy it is now!) for my 10 year high school reunion. Am I really that old?!
November- Another road trip! This time we headed to Georgia for a friend's wedding. J's parents came to visit for Thanksgiving. We really enjoyed having family here. We started D on solid foods this month to help with reflux. It's a very messy process!
December- We are celebrating D's first Christmas. Hard to believe he is 6 months old already! My parents are coming to visit just after Christmas and J and I might even go on a real date! Although, that would require staying out late. Hmmm... ;)
I think it's safe to say we have had a pretty awesome year. I can't wait to see what the next year holds. Merry Christmas y'all!

It's been a great year for y'all, Casey, and I love seeing how much joy and happiness Deacon has brought to your lives. Merry Christmas! xo
What memories. And Deacon is so cute! Our granddaughter was 6 mo. old on her 1st Christmas, now she's 4 and her little brother, who eats more than her, will be 2 in Jan. We had fun with them and their parents, of course, this evening, for our Christmas with them. I remember the days when our children were little. Our daughter was 5 days old on Christmas when we were in the Air Force....so many years ago....wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a wonderful year. Hugs!
