In-Between

So you come to the point where you are no longer here...

But you aren't quite here...
What is there? How do you manage to be fashionable without looking like a 12 year old or an old lady? Well, I suppose there is J. Crew, but, I don't know about you guys, but that's not in my budget. Ann Taylor and Gap are typical favorites, but I must say I was recently pleasantly surprised by one store I have over looked in the past...

Guess where all those are from? Talbots! No kidding! With a much more affordable price tag than J. Crew (but with the same quality), Talbots is actually a new favorite. Their fall preview was just as cute. (See their blog for pics.)

Are you as surprised as I am?

Wow, good tip! I've been feeling the same way too...it may be time to get rid of the A&F's ;-) I have never checked out Talbots....but I'm definitely going to now!!! Thanks!

Oooo... thank you! I'm totally at that point right now too. Of course, my favorite stores tend to be Target and Kohls so not sure even Talbots is in my budget!

Shockingly enough I'm not. There was a big article in the New York Times (Or maybe it was Wall Street Journal) about how Talbots is trying to reach a whole younger crowd - by changing the style of their clothes and marketing schemes a little bit. :) I think it's totally cool though - and you picked out some great stuff!

Ooh! I'm excited to check Talbot's out! I am definitely inbetween... I sometimes find cute things at Limited but it can get pricey... And other than that I just haven't been shopping in a few months! (living in the boonies of AL/GA doesn't give many "shopping" options...) thanks!

I read on another blog recently that that Talbot's had a new pretty good line, but hadn't checked it out yet myself! I think I need to!

I SO struggle dressing my age! But my price range is more like... Old Navy. So I think TJMaxx is my only hope!

First of all, the mom jeans pics cracked me up. Love that skit! And secondly, I have to admit, I have never been in a Talbot's. Perhaps I'll give it a shot!

Wow, very impressive! I'm definitely very surprised. I'll have to check them out then. I'm in the same in-between boat. It's really taken me a while to know what is age-appropriate for me. It doesn't help that I still feel like I'm fresh out of college. Possibly because I'm in the process of getting my second degree? :P

You're the second person I have seen blog about Talbots. Ofcourse there isn't one where we are at, suprise, suprise. I am going to have to make that my next stop when we go big city shopping. I would have never guessed to hop in there!

dude...I will never wear those nasty Mom jeans. I also will never wear a kaftan or a mumu.

For the record, I have never worn the "mom" jeans-ugh! I did see evidence of leggings in past pictures (oops!). I am pretty boring and stick with Gap and Old Navy...and a few Aero shirts. I found a few things at Talbots when I lived in Austin many moons ago. I will check them out again! Surely, So. Cal. will have a Talbots or similar?!?

What a great post. And judging by all of these comments, you are totally on to something! So glad you [and your friends] are liking what you're seeing at Talbots. All I can say is, wait until you see Fall!

thanks for sharing! before shopping meant finding something that was cute, comfy, and in budget...now all those apply still, but there's trying to find something that doesn't scream " I'm 16!" or " i'm 40!"....good thing i have patience
