Last week Renee told me about a great project to get involved with. Bloganthropy was hosting a project to encourage people to take Valentines to military hospitals. Easy enough right? I have a built in group of super cute Valentine makers in my class and a military hospital very close by!
So we got to work...
Next week, 25 of these Valentines will be delivered to the military hospital here in Germany, and 25 more will be passed out on MediVac flights of wounded service members heading back to the states. Each Valentine has a card, a decorated bag, candy, and homemade cookies. That will surely make them smile!
But wait, it gets even better!
Dollar Days (thank you Dollar Days!) has agreed to donate $50 in clothing to Sew Much Comfort for every blog that signed up with this project! If you don't know about Sew Much Comfort it is a national organization that makes clothing usable for injured veterans. When I worked at the USO facility for wounded troops we handed out a ton of clothing from this wonderful organization. The sweatpants with one leg that had velcro closure were the most popular. It was much easier for them to put on over the braces, pins, casts, scars, etc.
And even better? If this post gets 10 comments or more- Dollar Days will donate an additional $50 in clothing! No kidding! So between myself, my class, and you, we can donate $100 in clothing to Sew Much Comfort and 50 Valentines to wounded troops. I can't think of a better way to show our support!
So leave your comment this week (National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans' Week) and help me help the troops!

This project sounds great! I hope 9 MORE PEOPLE COMMENT!
When I lived in the States I was really impressed by how much you Americans love and support your troops.
And several times I witnessed how people in uniform were approached by strangers who thanked them for their service.
Here in Germany it is far from that. (no clue why)
Anyways, I love how you support your troops and would be happy to make a little contribution by commenting here and hope 8 more people do the same.
Oh my gosh - this is so wonderful. I worked at a VA hospital and have a brother in the military. Reading about these projects brought a huge smile to my face. Way to go!
Awesome project!!!
I know your cute lil valentines will put a huge smile on their faces!!!!
I have to agree with LTCLC - you guys really know how to reach out and say thanks to servicemen and women. It means so much; I wish Aussies were better at it.

Hats off to Dollar Days. Sounds like a great project.
This is awesome!
Last year for Valentines day I went back to my kindergarten teacher and had her class make valentine's to send to my soldier's troops over seas. It was so much fun!
What a cool project that keeps giving!
Hats off to Dollar Days, Sew Much Comfort and to your Super cute Valentine Makers. What fun.
I absolutely agree that some people experience things differently. I don't like being pregnant, but I don't hate it. I have lots of good to say along with the bad. And if someone who was newly pregnant came to me for advice (or didn't for that matter), I'd tell them the good stuff. If they want to know the bad, they'll ask or find out on their own. There's a difference between being helpful and being close minded.
I should get my mother over to sew much comfort. that lady can crack out the sewing stuff.
is it too late to make valentines for veterans? I'm trying to get the kids doing projects that make them aware that the world does not revolve around them.
and youd be a great pageant mom : )
What a great idea! Thanks Dollar Days and Sew Much Comfort!
Thanks to your class!
